You ever wish that you could hire your lookalike or be in two different places at once? Do you ever feel like you could avoid going to a certain family function or a reunion but you fear your absence will be noticed? Well, an absurd new app might just be the one stop solution to all your problems.
You’ve probably heard of Uber but have you heard of Oobah? While Uber is an app where you can book a ride to reach your desired destination, Oobah is an app where you can hire your lookalike. And what will your lookalike do? Well, that depends on what do you want them to do.
For instance, here’s a guy who has a fear of heights but got married to a woman whose dream is to skydive with the love of her life. As you can imagine, this puts our man, Richard in a tough position. On the one hand, he wants his wife to live her dream but on the other hand, Richard gets terrified even when he climbs the escalator. So, what does he do? You guessed it! He calls an Oobah and gets a similar looking guy to go skydiving with his wife. And the best part, his wife doesn’t even realize it wasn’t her husband she was skydiving with. He really made use of the phrase “hire your lookalike”.
But maybe it wasn’t such a bright idea to upload the video of him calling Oobah. Just saying!
Another customer, Stephen, ordered Oobah to “hire your lookalike” for an upcoming High School reunion event. Stephen wasn’t very happy with his present position in life and wanted someone better looking and more sociable to take his place and fool his school mates. But the doppelganger’s performance might have fallen short because the school mates were quick to point out that he’s not Stephen. Stephen, however, learns an important lesson that day – he is already loved and valued for how he is and doesn’t need a lookalike to impress his old friends.
The app, given its weird service, tends to receive weird requests. Here are some of the requests received by Oobah so they can “hire your lookalike”:
“Can my lookalike break up with my fiancée?”
“My new roommate’s mom is coming to visit the house soon. I’d like to get a few Oobahs, one in each room of the house while she’s given the tour. The aim is to convince this woman that I can be in several rooms at once.”
“I just want a version of me that isn’t fat.”
“I recently said I was starting a book club and people are actually interested in joining… I’m not sure I want to go through with it but I also don’t want to let people down.”
“I need him to cover me 9 to 6 daily so that I can focus on becoming a pro football player. Also, I will use the money he earns to buy IG followers so that I can be a IG influencer in case the pro football thing doesn’t work out.”
“I would like him to go and beat up my drug dealer.”
“I would really like my Oobah to go to my boyfriend’s gig so that I don’t have to, and pretend to like the music more than I do.”
And these are only some of the requests received by the app. I, myself could definitely use a lookalike to attend my classes. What would you use your doppelganger for? Let us know in the comments section.
