Recently the famous TV presenter Rabi Lamichhane brought happiness amongst his fans when he announced his plans to enter politics. He rose to fame as the host of the show Sidha Kura Janata Sanga, where he asked the toughest questions to politicians and exposed many corrupt activities.

People always adored their beloved Rabi Dai during his time as a journalist. There were many people who were openly ready to accept him as the prime minister of Nepal, a welcome change to the decrepit gentlemen who have been running our country till date.

Well, Nepalis have now got their wish as Rabi Lamichhane has opened his own party called “Rastriya Swatantra Party”. Through this party, he is planning to run for the upcoming parliamentary election and create change as a member of parliament.

The victory of Mayor Balen Shah has surely had a huge impact on the outlook of Nepali politics. He has singlehandedly inspired many famous personalities to join politics. Rabi Lamichhane too was someone that the public had been hoping would join politics at some point. But, now that he has taken this step, it seems not everyone is happy. While most people are supportive, some have criticized him for naming his party “Swatantra”. These people have complained that Lamichhane has sought to turn the independent candidate label into a party branding.

It makes sense for Rabi Lamichhane to create a new party because we have multi party system in Nepal and a independent can be an MP but can't do much.. a organised force is needed for change.. the task though is full of huge challenges, Let's see what happens
