After Thiago, Sadio Mane is the second Liverpool player to be tested positive for the corona virus.
The 28 year old Senegalese player was enjoying an excellent spell at the start of the premier league season, with the Reds winger scoring two and assisting one in first three games for the defending champions.
According to the club, Mane has displayed only minor symptoms of the virus and is healthy overall. Mane, alongside Thiago who was also tested positive earlier this week will miss the the upcoming away game against Aston Villa. Thiago was also sidelined for the previous game against Arsenal. Both the players will be self-isolating for the required period of time.
Mane posted on his Instagram:
Statement from Liverpool FC:
“However, like with Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool Football Club are – and will continue to – follow all protocols relating to COVID-19 and Mane will self-isolate for the required period of time.”
The absence of the Liverpool players might affect Klopp’s plans for the upcoming game. However, the German manager hopes to welcome back his players after the 13 day long international break, which falls after the upcoming match against Aston Villa.
