Spurs Sign Nepali Origin Footballer Asmita Ale On A Two Year Deal

The number of Nepali athletes who have made it to the international stage has been growing steadily. Recently, 5 athletes from Nepal took part in the Olympics. Adding to that, Asmita Ale’s new signing in the Premier League, Nepal’s reputation on the international level seems brighter than ever!


Tottenham Hotspurs Women F.C., an English football club, has signed defender Asmita Ale on a two year deal for the Women’s Super League, making Ale the first woman of Nepali descent to sign with a Premier League.


Daughter of a former Gurkha soldier, Ale was a regular at Aston Villa since she was 8 years old, and made her official debut at 16. She received her first professional contract after turning 18 in late 2019.


With regular seasons ending across different sports, tons of teams have been making trades and signing in new players to strengthen their roster.

Following suit, Tottenham Hotspurs Women F.C. have signed Asmita Ale to strengthen the backend of their field.


Previously, the 19 year old played 18 games for Aston Villa and helped the team dribble away from a possible demotion to the FA Women’s Championship.


With the strong performance in mind, Ale committed to the Hotspurs on a two year deal, taking on the number 13.

She announced her commitment to the Hotspurs through an Instagram post captioned, “Really happy to have signed for Spurs! Let’s go 🤍 #COYS”.



Following her announcement, netizens stormed the field to congratulate her, with professional Nepali athletes like Gaurika Singh and Rohit Chand showing their appreciation as well.
