It is no secret that the electric automobile sector is quickly growing in Nepal. With many countries taking on ambitious commitments to go green, automobile manufacturers are quickly getting wise. And this impact is being seen in the Nepali automobile market as well, where we can find more and more electric choices in the four-wheeler market.

But what about the two-wheeler market? Although the government has recently brought favorable tax structures for electric vehicles in Nepal, the vast majority of Nepalis will still prefer motorcycles and scooters as their first choice. So, here are 7 brands of electric motorcycles and scooters that are currently gaining favor among auto enthusiasts.

1. Super Soco

Super Soco is one of the popular brands of electric two-wheelers on the market. Currently, there are 3 models of Super Soco motorcycles and 2 of its scooter models available in Nepal. The CPX is the flagship scooter by this brand, and offers a range of up to 200 km on the double battery configuration.

2. NIU

When it comes to electric scooters, the Nepali market is dominated by one name -- NIU. This brand produces sleek-looking scooters that are instantly recognizable on the streets. The best thing about this brand is its affordable pricing, with most models in the 2 lakh range. The NIU U-Series can be purchased for a low price of Rs 1.85 lakhs.

3. Genius

There are currently two electric motorcycles by the Genius brand available in Nepal. The unique thing about these two models is that they strongly resemble two iconic big bikes that are well-known by petrolheads. The fully-faired electric motorcycle, XY 46, looks a great deal like the BMW S1000RR while the naked model, X 46, resembles Kawasaki’s Z series of naked bikes. Whether that’s a pro or a con, is up for you to decide.

4. TailG

TailG is slowly growing as a common choice for those looking for an electric commute within the city. TailG currently offers 3 different scooter models with a decent performance and an affordable price of Rs. 1.83 lakhs to Rs 2.1 lakhs. The best of these, the TailG Leopard, comes with a decent range of 130 km on a single charge.

5. Terra Motors

6. Yatri

Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without Yatri, Nepal’s very first domestically produced electric motorcycle brand. Although Yatri motorcycles aren’t out on the streets just yet, the company has unveiled two very exciting, futuristic-looking motorcycles. Yatri bikes do more than just take you through your daily commute; they can do much more, with one designed as an aggressive cafe racer and another model designed to take you offroad.

7. Yadea

Yadea is another newly introduced brand of electric scooters in Nepal and is quickly making its mark with its smartly designed machines. The three models of Yadea electric scooters currently available in Nepal come with an attractive all-digital display panel, a spacious 25-liter boot space, and a range of up to 80 km.
